June 2

Today is a public holiday to mark HM Queen’s birthday and even as I watch the Trooping of the Colour ceremony the phone rings.

Churchill radio-therapy office with an pre-treatment appointment …

Less than two weeks ahead and then the schedule is that will start treatment three weeks after that. Actually I am not bothered about exactly when as to be given a rough schedule means that I can begin to plan events and get back to some form of normality at the beginning of September.

I suddenly realise how much I have been waiting for this news and in the hour that follows I feel a real lift in my spirits and reief that there is now a definite plan of avtion about to be revealed.

Yet again the NHS has come up trumps: as noted above today is a national holiday and yet the admin staff were hard at work. Clearly politicallyincorrect but I just wish I could meet these lovely people and give them all a big hug to show what a difference their efforts make to other people’s lives.
